Multiple law enforcement officers were shot in Charlotte, N.C., on Monday as members of a U.S.
Marshals fugitive task force were trying to serve a warrant and were met by gunfire, the police said.
The authorities shut down the city’s Shannon Park neighborhood, east of downtown, in order to more easily move victims to hospitals, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department wrote on social media.
It cautioned residents to stay inside and avoid the area.
The scene was still active after 3 p.m., the authorities said, and a SWAT team was at the scene.
